Arrived
in Vancouver –
Cruise Ended
The cruise was over.
I had to get up very early (~5:30
AM ) because the cruise line (RCCL) had a policy where you didn’t
get your final statement of charges (excursions and things your charged during
the cruise) until early the last morning.
All discrepancies had to be reported to the Purser by 6:30 AM !
Our statement was correct. We
showered and headed up to the Windjammer Café for are last breakfast on the
ship. We were pleased to run into Sharon
& Brian and ate breakfast with them.
We said our goodbyes and headed to our designated place on the
ship. It made sense to distribute the
people around the ship in some order as it would have been a madhouse if 2000
people all tried to leave the ship and get their luggage at the same time. However, this disembarkation was the only
time I felt crowded on the ship. Luckily
we were the second group to get called to leave the ship.
It was at this moment when I wished we had taken a
northbound cruise (Vancouver – Seward).
That way, we would have gotten off this ship and been in Alaska ! It was very anticlimactic to be in Vancouver . I would have much preferred the wilderness of
Alaska
instead of a crowded big city. Oh well,
lesson learned.
We exchanged some US money for Canadian, got a taxi
and headed to the Georgian
Court Hotel . Got to the hotel, unpacked and headed out to Stanley Park .
It was a very nice place. We spent
a few hours there and hopped a trolley back to the hotel. Later that evening we just walked down Robson Street , ate
dinner downtown and basically explored Robson Street . I was overwhelmed with the amount of homeless
people. There just seemed to be many of
them.
